Demo Padel Rental Terms

Version: 1.0
Effective Date: 2026-07-01

These Rental Terms apply whenever a customer rents a padel racket or related equipment from Demo Padel.

These terms must be read together with Demo Padel’s:

  • Deposit, Damage and Return Policy.

  • Privacy Policy.

By submitting a booking request, paying for a rental or accepting a racket, the customer agrees to these terms.

1. Definitions

In these terms:

Customer means the person named in the booking.

Demo period means the agreed period during which the customer may use the racket.

Racket includes the padel racket and any cover, frame protector, wrist strap or other equipment supplied with it.

Handover means the time when the racket is delivered to, collected by or otherwise accepted by the customer.

Return deadline means the exact date and time by which the racket must be returned or handed to the approved return service.

2. Eligibility to rent

The person making the booking must:

  • be at least 18 years old;

  • provide accurate contact and identification information;

  • have authority to make the booking and payment;

  • accept responsibility for the racket during the demo period; and

  • agree to these terms before payment.

Demo Padel may request a South African identity document, passport, proof of address or other reasonable verification before releasing a racket.

Demo Padel may decline a booking where the required information, payment or verification has not been provided.

3. Booking requests

Submitting a booking form does not automatically confirm a rental.

A booking is only confirmed once Demo Padel has:

  1. confirmed that the selected racket is available;

  2. confirmed the demo dates and return deadline;

  3. confirmed the rental fee, deposit and delivery charges;

  4. received the required payment; and

  5. sent the customer written booking confirmation.

Bookings are subject to racket availability.

4. Rental fees

The applicable rental fee will be confirmed before payment.

Current standard demo periods are:

  • 1-Day Demo: 24 hours;

  • 3-Day Demo: 72 hours; and

  • 7-Day Demo: seven calendar days.

The demo period starts at the agreed handover time, not when the customer first uses the racket.

Unless stated otherwise, the rental fee does not include:

  • court bookings;

  • padel balls;

  • delivery or collection charges;

  • additional insurance;

  • late-return fees; or

  • the refundable deposit.

5. Refundable deposit

A refundable deposit is required for each racket.

The amount varies according to the racket’s replacement value and will be confirmed before payment.

The deposit is held as security and is not an additional rental fee. It will be processed for refund after the racket has:

  • been returned;

  • been inspected by Demo Padel; and

  • been confirmed as free from chargeable damage or outstanding amounts.

Any deductions will be handled in accordance with the Deposit, Damage and Return Policy.

6. Handover and condition inspection

Demo Padel will inspect and record the racket’s condition before handover.

The customer must inspect the racket at handover and confirm that:

  • the recorded condition is accurate;

  • existing marks or scratches have been noted;

  • the racket appears safe and suitable for play;

  • the wrist strap and handle are secure; and

  • all supplied equipment has been received.

Any concern must be reported immediately and before the racket is used.

If the customer accepts and uses the racket without reporting an issue, the handover condition record will be treated as an accurate record of its condition at the start of the demo.

7. Permitted use

The racket may only be used:

  • for ordinary recreational or competitive padel;

  • on a recognised padel court;

  • during the confirmed demo period; and

  • by the customer named in the booking, unless Demo Padel agrees otherwise.

The customer may test the racket in normal matches, coaching sessions and training sessions.

Commercial use, resale, sub-rental or use for promotional events requires prior written permission.

8. Responsible use

The customer must take reasonable care of the racket.

The customer must:

  • use the wrist strap whenever playing;

  • make reasonable efforts to avoid hitting the glass, fencing, court surface, posts or other hard objects;

  • store the racket in its supplied cover when not in use;

  • keep it away from excessive heat, moisture and prolonged direct sunlight;

  • transport it securely;

  • prevent unauthorised use; and

  • follow any care instructions supplied by Demo Padel.

The customer may not:

  • throw, strike or deliberately abuse the racket;

  • remove the frame protector;

  • alter the grip beneath the supplied overgrip;

  • add weights or accessories without permission;

  • paint, sand, drill or modify the racket;

  • repair it personally;

  • leave it unattended in a public place; or

  • lend or transfer it to another person without permission.

Ordinary accidental contact may occur during normal padel play. Such contact will not automatically result in a charge unless it causes damage beyond reasonable wear and tear or results from negligent or reckless use.

9. Customer responsibility

The customer is responsible for the racket from handover until it has been:

  • physically returned to Demo Padel or an agreed representative; or

  • accepted and scanned by an approved PUDO or courier service in accordance with the return instructions.

The customer must take reasonable steps to prevent loss, theft, misuse or damage during this period.

The customer must immediately tell Demo Padel if the racket is:

  • lost;

  • stolen;

  • damaged;

  • involved in a significant impact;

  • left behind at a club; or

  • no longer safe to use.

A damaged racket must not continue to be used where doing so could worsen the damage.

10. Returns

The racket must be returned before the return deadline stated in the booking confirmation.

Approved return options may include:

  • an agreed in-person drop-off;

  • collection by Demo Padel;

  • an approved club or partner location;

  • PUDO; or

  • another method agreed to in writing.

The customer may not change the return method without Demo Padel’s approval.

A courier waybill or PUDO booking alone does not count as a completed return. The parcel must have been handed over and recorded through an acceptance or locker scan.

Detailed return and PUDO procedures appear in the Deposit, Damage and Return Policy.

11. PUDO and courier returns

Where the racket is returned through PUDO or an approved courier, the customer must:

  • use the packaging supplied or approved by Demo Padel;

  • complete the required condition photographs or video;

  • display the one-time return PIN provided by Demo Padel;

  • package and seal the racket securely;

  • retain the receipt and tracking information; and

  • send the requested evidence to Demo Padel before dispatch.

The deposit will not be refunded merely because the parcel has been dispatched. It will remain pending until the racket is received and inspected.

12. Late returns

A customer who expects to be late must contact Demo Padel before the return deadline.

An extension only applies once Demo Padel has approved it in writing.

Where no extension has been approved, Demo Padel may charge the current one-day demo fee for every additional day or part thereof.

The customer may also be responsible for reasonable losses caused by an unapproved late return, such as the cancellation of a confirmed subsequent booking.

Repeated late returns may result in future bookings being declined.

13. Extensions

A demo period may only be extended if:

  • the racket is not reserved for another customer;

  • the extension is requested before the original return deadline;

  • Demo Padel approves it in writing; and

  • the additional rental fee is paid.

Keeping the racket after the deadline without approval does not create an automatic extension.

14. Damage, loss and theft

Normal wear and tear will not be charged to the customer.

New damage will be assessed by comparing:

  • the handover condition record;

  • the customer’s return photographs or video;

  • the condition of the packaging;

  • courier tracking records; and

  • Demo Padel’s return inspection.

Where negligent or improper use causes damage, Demo Padel may deduct the reasonable repair cost, replacement loss or reduction in value from the deposit.

Where the racket is lost, stolen, not returned or damaged beyond economical repair, the full deposit may be retained. Any additional documented replacement shortfall may remain payable.

Where the customer pays the full agreed replacement loss, ownership of the damaged racket may transfer to the customer.

Full details appear in the Deposit, Damage and Return Policy.

15. Delivery and collection

Delivery and collection are subject to:

  • service-area availability;

  • an agreed address or handover location;

  • the customer or authorised recipient being available;

  • payment of the applicable fee; and

  • reasonable access and safety conditions.

The customer must check that the delivery details are accurate.

Where a delivery or collection cannot be completed because the customer is unavailable or supplied incorrect information, an additional delivery fee may apply.

Estimated delivery times are not guaranteed where delays occur outside Demo Padel’s reasonable control.

16. Racket availability and substitutions

Demo Padel will make reasonable efforts to provide the racket selected by the customer.

If the racket becomes unavailable because of:

  • damage;

  • a late return by another customer;

  • loss in transit;

  • maintenance;

  • safety concerns; or

  • another event outside Demo Padel’s reasonable control,

Demo Padel may offer:

  • a comparable replacement racket;

  • alternative dates;

  • a booking credit; or

  • a refund of amounts paid for the unavailable booking.

A substitution will not be made without informing the customer.

17. Cancellations and rescheduling

The following suggested cancellation rules apply unless a different arrangement is confirmed:

More than 48 hours before handover

The customer may:

  • receive a refund of the rental fee; or

  • move the booking to another available date.

Any payment-processing fees that cannot be recovered may be deducted where this was disclosed before payment.

Between 24 and 48 hours before handover

The customer may move the booking once to another available date.

A cash refund may be reduced to reflect reasonable preparation or delivery costs already incurred.

Less than 24 hours before handover or failure to attend

The rental fee may be non-refundable because the racket was reserved and could not reasonably be rented to another customer.

The refundable deposit and unused delivery charges will still be refunded.

Demo Padel may waive or adjust these rules in reasonable circumstances.

18. Cancellation by Demo Padel

Demo Padel may cancel or refuse a rental where:

  • payment has not been received;

  • required identification has not been provided;

  • information supplied appears false or misleading;

  • the racket is no longer safe or available;

  • the customer previously failed to return equipment;

  • there is reasonable concern about fraud, misuse or non-return; or

  • continuing the booking would be unlawful or unsafe.

Where Demo Padel cancels for reasons not caused by the customer, amounts already paid for the unavailable rental will be refunded.

19. Purchase referrals and credits

Demo Padel may refer customers to retail partners where they wish to purchase a racket.

Any demo-fee credit, discount, commission arrangement or purchase offer:

  • is subject to the specific promotion;

  • must be confirmed in writing;

  • may apply only to selected retailers or rackets;

  • may have an expiry date; and

  • is not guaranteed unless included in the booking confirmation.

The final purchase agreement will be between the customer and the retailer unless expressly stated otherwise.

20. Customer safety

The customer is responsible for deciding whether they are physically able to participate in padel.

Demo Padel does not provide medical advice and does not guarantee that a particular racket will prevent injury or suit every customer.

The customer must stop using the racket if:

  • it appears cracked or unsafe;

  • the handle or wrist strap becomes loose;

  • continued use could cause injury; or

  • Demo Padel instructs the customer to stop using it.

21. Recommendations

Any racket recommendation is based on the information supplied by the customer and the general characteristics of the racket.

A recommendation is guidance only. Personal preference, technique and playing experience may affect how the racket feels.

Demo Padel does not guarantee that a recommended racket will be perfect for every customer or lead to improved performance.

22. Limitation of responsibility

Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to applicable law, Demo Padel will not be responsible for:

  • ordinary sporting injuries;

  • court fees or cancelled games;

  • personal belongings lost at a court;

  • damage caused by misuse of the racket;

  • indirect losses arising from an unavailable racket; or

  • delays caused by couriers, clubs, weather, traffic or circumstances outside its reasonable control.

Demo Padel remains responsible for supplying a racket that is reasonably safe and suitable for the agreed demo service.

23. Personal information

Demo Padel may collect and use customer information for:

  • processing bookings;

  • verifying identity;

  • contacting the customer;

  • arranging delivery and return;

  • processing payments and refunds;

  • preventing fraud;

  • managing damage claims; and

  • complying with legal obligations.

Personal information will be handled according to Demo Padel’s Privacy Policy.

24. Communications

Booking confirmations, approvals and notices may be sent through:

  • WhatsApp;

  • email;

  • the website booking system; or

  • another agreed electronic method.

The customer must keep their contact information up to date and review booking messages promptly.

25. Complaints and disputes

A customer should first contact Demo Padel directly if they have a concern about:

  • the racket;

  • a deposit deduction;

  • a late fee;

  • delivery;

  • the booking; or

  • the service received.

Demo Padel will review the available records and attempt to resolve the issue fairly.

Nothing in these terms limits any right or remedy available to a customer under applicable consumer-protection law.
